Change of IP phones able to be provisioned in v18

I am converting a customer currently using a Fonality trixbox Pro based system to 3CX. As we were discussing the change one of the questions was if their phones would work with 3CX. The list of phones supported and available to be provisioned showed (and still shows on our v16 system) the Yealink T38 (albeit noted as end of life) which is what they have in their office, so I told them we would be able to use them. I just spun up a hosted system for them and it appears the system is v18 and the list of supported phones has changed and the T38 is missing. Is there any chance it could be added back? I also see a lot of other phone makes and models are missing as well.

We have 'hidden' certain phone models in the 'Hosted by 3CX' installations that do not support STUN or SBC configurations and those that are not compatible with the the SSL Ciphers of V18.

Essentially we have hidden those that cannot be configured as per the 3CX configuration guides.

It's important to note that these models are NOT hidden on on-prem and self-hosted installations.

Thank you for that information, it helps a lot. We have convinced this customer to move to supported phones but what happens if a customer is using phones that were previously able to be provisioned and were provisioned on the system then upgrades to v18, will those phones still function?

Also, we have a lot of Polycom VVX 500 phones from previous installations with the Fonality systems. I notice that in v16 'Hosted by 3CX' those phones show as able to be provisioned behind an SBC but I do not see them in v18. Does that mean they are no longer supported on v18 at all? Will those particular phones show up as able to be provisioned on self-hosted or on premise?

If you want to use that model in V18 then you need to install 3CX on premises, or in your own cloud solution. In that case the VVX500 can work either in LAN or SBC mode.

As my colleague described above, some models are specifically hidden in "Hosted by 3CX" installations but these models are NOT hidden for on-premises and self-hosted installations.

There we go with another limitation of Hosted. Is that specified in the docs? I don't remember seeing anything about this.

We are generally talking about EOL phones that need DHCP Option 66 to provision, and in this specific case you also need to add Polycom Support Files to the cloud PBX, which you have no access to SFTP.

Honestly, Anything Yealink T2 or T3 series should be on its way to the trash, they are just too old....
