I haven't needed to buy any new endpoints for our 3CX PBX's for a while as we had some stock and haven't really been expanding (COVID and all of that...).

However, I now have a new location to deploy to which includes a call centre. I headed off to here to find out if the list of Yealink phones to buy (I always buy Yealink because they've simply never given me any problems) had changed since last time to find we now have a "Preferred IP phones" classification and that it only has Fanvil phones in it. Fanvil , literally the only phones that have ever given me an unsolvable problem with 3CX... and which I've avoided for some time for this very reason.

Yealink are in the next tier down - simply "supported".

Now I'm in a quandary. I take it from this move that 3CX think Fanvil is what will work best with 3CX (so should presumably be the phones to buy) and that the direction of travel is Fanvil = best.

What would you do? Go with what you think is best or what 3CX feel works most closely with them?

Certainly if it's Fanvil it's going to take a while for me to trust the Fanvil + 3CX combination again...

We use Yealink on 95% of our deployments and have no issues, and will not be changing this.

I use Snom and Yealink most of the time and this is not ready to change, two brands with reliable phones and not being a nightmare to set. ;)

As mentioned in the 3CX Supported IP Phones section, this is due to good levels of communication and cooperation which therefore allows more immediate response to IP Phone related matters such as updating/modifying firmwares or configuration templates when needed. Reliability and usability are other factors that come into play that help give these devices a good overall score based on which they are marked as preferred.

This however does not imply that you should switch from the devices/vendor you already use and know especially if you are happy with the results.:)

OK, thanks everyone. Yealink it stays.

The Fanvil phones I have deployed are outnumbered 9:1 by Yealink and yet, in my experience, they generate pretty much the inverse of that ratio in support problems.

IMO , I prefer a brand with less needing of frequent update than preferred brand with high level of update even they produce new firmware fix as fast as light.
The more you need to change phone firmware means for me there are problems to fix, so, could this be a proof of reliability ? not sure.
