Chat content being sent via Apple APNS. Privacy concerns.

Hi

We have noticed that the notification that pops up on iPhones using the 3CX App contains the actual content of the chat message. This would seem to suggest that all chat content is actually going through the APNS, suggesting that Apple has the ability to read this message as it passes through their notification system.

For example: If Fred sends a 3CX chat message to a colleague stating "The password is p4ssw0rd" the notification they receive on their iPhone lock screen is literally "Chat from Fred. The password is p4ssw0rd".

Can anybody shed some light on whether Apple truly is seeing the content of the chat message that is being used for the notification? Are the notifications 'end-to-end' encrypted so Apple can't read them?

Also, can anyone confirm that if we don't have any Android phones that nothing is being sent via the Google Push server. We wouldn't want our chat messages being sent to Google.

Is there any way to make the notification message generic like 'You have a new message from Fred" rather than the actual content of the message.

Many thanks!

All and every push notification need to go over Apple. What is displayed on your lockscreen is up to your configuration on your phone.

Also here, every push message is going over google servers... you cant do anything against this.

Ist that correct?
I thought Apple Push/Google Puh only informs a smartphone that there is a new message/data packet to get from the 3cx server?

For the information in lock screen: yes, you can configure that in Android/iOS or with MDM

That setting is a privacy thing on iPhones, you can set it to display either a notification or the subject of a message. If you wanted that level of privacy you should look at device management.

Thanks Bitn2. Do you know if the notifications going through APNS are encrypted so that they can't be read/logged by Apple?

The push message doesnt include the message itself. Its just a wakeup for your phone and the 3cx app is getting the message from your pbx.
