Hello,
We have a medium-large installation of 3cx on premise - linux debian10 v18u2 - vmware.
The chat directory is 34GB at the moment and is growing 500MB - 1000MB per DAY

root@3cx-p1:/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Chat# du -sh
34G .
root@3cx-p1:/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Chat#

I ask for a feature to automatically delete chat messages older than X days (where X can be set somewhere in the Management console)

A second idea is to compress images when sending over chat. Other messengers also compress the images before sending them
My old iphone6s takes 6MB pictures, I think newer iphones will have even bigger files!

Thank you
BR

Hi @voip-toni,

We do have a option to delete chat messages older than X months:

This means you should hover around 28GB - 35GB max.

Dashboard >> Chat Logs >> Settings.

Chat Logs is disabled here. I will ask for confirmation. Thank you!

Enabling chat logs - Confirm

Enabling the chat log feature will show the administrator all chat messages in the company. This allows you to monitor business conversations.
However check with local legislation if this is admissible by law and whether you need to notify staff members accordingly.
We also recommend purging chat messages before using this feature.

Sure thing @voip-toni, feel free to open a new thread if you require anything else!

I would like to now if auto-clean is possible WITHOUT seeing all users messages!
This is a NO-GO in our company.
Reading users chats is almost as bad as reading mails from users

Hi @voip-toni,

If the admin user has enabled the chat logs, to be able to access the scheduled auto-clean then they will have access to read the chat logs.

If you give a user System Administration rights without the right to: Monitor (Reports, Chat Logs, Call Log & Recordings), then they will have access to Purge the chat logs without being able to see them.

so it is not possible to have AUTO-CLEAN without reading the chat logs?

Correct @voip-toni, you can manually clean without reading them, or auto clean without opening the chats - but the option to read them will be there if you go into the chat logs section.
