I am looking into the "Chat" feature within 18.0 (Build 965) of 3CX with client v18.9.933.

I can chat with another extension as long as I go into Teams > Click on the EXT Chat Bubble

However if I go into the "Chat" navigation under teams, when I click on the + > Start chat (or Group Chat) - I cannot add anyone as the add button is non-functional. No EXT is recognised even when they are in the same Extension Group.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hello Funktified. There is no add button, you just click on team members and it adds them to members list on the top.

This is what I see when I try to start a chat with EXT 1003:

And when I try to start a new chat group, I cannot add anyone similar to above:

This is the same for both the desktop client and the web client.

However when I am in the Team section, i can click on the chat bubble which will start a conversion with that EXT:

So my question is:

1. Do I start a chat only via the Teams section?
2. I cannot chat with a group of EXT?

1. No, you should be able to start chat from chats, the way you are trying is correct. It should show the records found.
2. You can, the same way.
But I see that you haven't this on your screenshot. I will investigate this.

Thanks Dmitry,

On the Desktop Client, I tried a different method:

1. Go into Team
2. Click on chat bubble for 1005
3. Sent message (picture above)
4. Click on the Person+ button to add users

This then goes back similar to before:

I cannot add the EXT into the group chat.

Hello, Funktified,
This is strange behaviour, please send me extension credentials in private message, I will check.

I created 2 new users as you requested and now I can see the 2 new created accounts:

However I cannot see any existing users that I add into the group.

Hello, funktified,
Try this:
Open Management console, open extension that not shown. Go to "Options" tab and uncheck the option "Hide this extension from 3CX company phonebook and 3CX apps". After this, extension should be exposed in suggestions.

Thanks heaps Dmitry - that solved the issue! :)

However how do I limit who users can chat with - so that they can only chat within their own group?
