Check Voicemail when transfered to extension

We are running 3CX v 15.5 and I'm wondering how you can check your voicemail externaly if there is no IVR. If reception transferes you to your extensions voicemail how can you check it once the greeting starts playing? Or is there another way to check voicemail externaly without an IVR?
