It is discontinued in favor of the DesktopApp (which is MUCH better.)

Thanks for the update.

Hi we are using chromebooks I assume that the app is a windows app.

From the documentation it appears that you need to be a windows user to use the app. So we will we need to look for a different solution?

The Webclient is the same as the app. So you can use it instead.

Many thanks for your response Frederick.

OK we will use that instead.

But with v18 click2call will be lost. Is so important for customers with CRM integration (click2call works with Chrome extension). Any solution?

V18 DesktopApp supports "tel:" and "callto:" URLs already. Many CRMs use that.

the phone number must be a link
Code:
 <a href="tel://12345678">12345678</a>
, then you can link that to open with the 3cx windows client.

Yeah, "tel://" is rare. It's usually "tel:+1555xxxxxxx".

Ok, but we lose respect previous version in this sense ...
How so? The Browser Extension used some flacky JS script to create Click2Call. The new app uses the built-in Chrome protocol for telephone numbers.

What's wrong with that?

I have embraced the system, however maybe not all crm systems will have that number as a link, maybe they need to update as well.

That's the CRM problem. Not 3CX's. Most make that configurable like Bitrix or Dynamics. Some don't care like HubSpot and others simply never had a Click2Call.

Im sorry but im still not fully grasping this. This is still a web app. Will work ON the browser any browser. It is not a native executable app that needs to be downloaded depending on the OS . We have a lot of Ubuntu desktop users and some Chromebook users.

AGidi - It is the chrome extension that is being discontinnued in V18 I believe in favour of a windows app. The chrome extension is a little flakey so I will suck it and see - however I do not know how screen pop will work....

You can always use Tel Linker extension, it is like the 3cx extension

ah ha - many thanks. I will try that out.:D

a Windows OS app? I would believe that is a step backwards . Generally with our customers.. most of the staff runs on windows/mac, the techier staff runs on Ubuntu or Mint, and all the decision takers run IOs and Mac OS. So if the "new 3cx project" does not work perfectly with the IT staff and the decision takers hardware, it is out the window.

I really hope they stick to web based only and cross OS compatibility. It is easiest for 3CX to maintain too.
