Hello,
I have to test a Cisco Cube from local provider, that actually is running ok as a SIP Trunk with my freePBX.
What would it be the correct way to configure that on my new 3cx pbx?
I think I have to configure it as a Generic SIP Trunk, with its local IP (in my LAN), as I use over my actual freePBX.
What about the difference between "Generic SIP Trunk" and "Generic VoIP Provider" ? Would this type of selection makes some difference in some preconfigured parameters?
I could configure some sip trunks in different ways, with differente options, to test them in turns... Do you have any advise?
I need to configure as much as possible to test DIDs...outbound routes, outbound caller ID....

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

These are simply "presets" that change the settings of the trunk, but they don't really do anything you could not also edit manually if you wanted to. You can even build two and open them in two separate tabs side by side if you wish to compare. In short:

SIP Trunk = IP Based
VoIP Provider = Registration Based

So pick whichever one you want, and then you will still have full access to all the available settings and edit them any way you wish.

As for what the right settings are, it depends on your Cube device and the provider may be able to help you more on that part. You might have to do some trial and error if you don't know what the requirements are.
