Hi All,

We had a network blip and our cisco phone lost configuration and we are not able to reprovision them.

We followed the normal auto reprovisioning step of factory resetting the phones and putting IP address in webbrowser to send provisiong settings, it show the regular page that state the following:

SPA will resync the profile when it is not in use and reboot.
You can click here to return to the configuration page.

The Phone doesn't get the configuration, we have done a trace using Wireshark and we found that the phone makes the request and is able to communicate to the server.
  • It sends first: GET Provisioning HTTP/1.1
  • Then it gets reply: then: HTTP/1.1 - 404 Not found

This is happening to all our Cisco phone in the office
We have tried different browsers and different workstation to attempt send the configuration file, we have also rebooted the phone and reset to factory again.

Our Current Setup:
  • 3CX Server hosted in Azure(Cloud base)
  • Cisco Phones - SPA504G (Firmware Version - 7.6.1 = Latest verified in 3CX)
  • Yealink Phone - Working Fine and have automatically came back up:cool:
Any help is apreciated and Many Thanks in advance:)

Hello @AntonioAntunesVirtuoso

Please note that Cisco devices cannot be provisioned as remote devices due to https limitations so unless you have a VPN and provisioning the device as local, provisioning will fail. You will need to manually configure the device to register to the PBX.

Hi @Yiannis_diag ,

Thanks you for getting back to me, We have been using the provisioning URL as per the KB you have suggested, which has worked fine until today. This morning we had a network blip which our current workaround has always been to reprovision the Cisco Phone and this used to work fine but today is not working for none of our cisco phones.

Our Yealinks IP phones are working fine...

The way we provision the phone is exactly as the methond on the KB provided

In case the IP phone has the IP address 192.168.3.27 and Provisioning URL is http://pbx.mybusiness.local/provisioning/pc56bscs195k/$MA.xml the correct URL will be:

http://192.168.3.27/admin/resync?http://pbx.mybusiness.local/provisioning/pc56bscs195k/$MA.xml”

Step 3: Provision the Cisco SPA Device
Copy and paste the above URL into your web browser. Depending on the model the phone will show:

  • On Cisco SPA525G/G2
    rB0Qv_e0IkHD0tF9CBLs4lI7txKegbZKZljNGhRBQy7G_1ObXs-ntrOeK-exxSSSUcm1hxpRtsJv699KSfOC5L5oT-DMD635KAJ4jED74AJOh6kacPhrrTk8L1lJv5AW2w
  • On any other Cisco SPA

and will reboot shortly after.

How are the Yealink phones provisioned to the PBX? Through the management console navigate to an extension that has a Yealink phone and go the Phone provisioning tab. What is the provisioning method used? I am trying to figure out if there is a VPN connection to the Azure instance which enables you to provision the phones as local devices.

Hi @YiannisH_3CX, we do a normal factory reset and keep note of the ip address.
We use two method, Auto provision and Manual

Auto - PNP Active and DHCP active, we use server URL that has the provisioning fold name which then downloads the configuration to the phones

Manual - do the manual bits (making line acctive etc) and added the 3CX server as SIP server 1

Regarding how the cloud based server connects to our local network yes it has a VPN

The Cisco and Yealink phone provisiong has always worked with the current networks and server connection setup, but whenever we had a blip the cisco phones go down and lose configuration.

It seems they are no longer recognised in 3CX server and we have to re-provision them.
Only this time it seems is not able to collect the configuration, but no changes were done
