Howdy!

We are doing more and more forwarding to a mobile phone due to users working from outside the office. What I have noticed is the caller ID number doesn't make it to the mobile device.

Depending how it's forwarded it either shows the extension number (their internal number) or it shows the default outbound caller id number. I am pretty sure Net2Phone our SIP provider supports Clip no Screening which is what I read we need.

Do I need to enable anything else within 3CX to get the caller ID information to be forwarded? Thanks!

No need to guess, it says it on the page they do. But you may want to check with them to confirm. Are you using the 3CX Template? If so, you might try their support as they will be most familiar with the setup. You can also run wireshark or check the activity log (in verbose mode) to see if the desired callerid is just being sent out in the wrong field or if it is making it out at all

Thanks for the reply. I have been looking at the activity log and haven't seen anything that would indicate it supported or not so I figured I would ask. Yes we are using a 3cx template for Net2Phone. I'll open a ticket from there. I figured there was a setting I needed to check within 3cx.

It may have to do with the a caller id field in the outbound trunk settings. If the main number is showing, is that from an extension that has no number set in the external caller ID field? If there is a number there, is that one sent.? There are several fields that have the option "OriginatorCallerID . That outbound trunk option, in the correct field (there are several that have the option), should send the original callers number. Make note of any changes, as the wrong one can stop all outgoing calls.

So I was able to get it working by changing the following:

In the Outbound Parameters in the SIP Trunk I needed to change the following:

P-Asserted Identity : Display Name
P-Asserted Identity : User Part

Both to: “OriginiatorCallerID” Original Caller Number will be sent.

Howdy! So I wanted to follow up on this as now we have an adverse effect to this setting. In some cases, we have an extension set up to "Ring my mobile simultaneously". When an internal caller dials the extension ie 72xx it will show on the mobile phone as 72xx which resolves to Russia.

So we are back to the drawing board.

We are needing in all cases, inbound to internal extension -> forwarded to mobile, or inbound -> forwarded to mobile to all show the originating caller id.

I am going to keep trying the outbound parameters in the sip trunks, but if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Does the originating extension have a DID number datafilled for outbound caller ID?

It may be other fields, in the outbound rules, that require the change. Put the ones you have changed back to the original settings and try one at a time.
