Hi,

We have 3CX running on a Windows VM in Production, We want to migrate VM from one environment to another environment.
We have cloned VM from one environment to another environment. The question is when we will shut down VM from the existing environment and bring it online from the second environment, will 3CX ask for license activation as the Public IP address of the VM will be changed?

Do we need to uninstall 3cx from one environment to release the license and then activate in the new environment?
Regards,
AB

Before cloning the VM, put the Settings > Network into Dynamic mode. This will have the 3CX check for its public IP on an interval.

Then, clone, shut down old VM, turn on new one and wait until the DNS updates for the 3CX FQDN and you'll be good to go.

Hey @AbdulBasitNZ

Just to be clear here, the recommended method of migrating a 3CX Instance is to take a backup and re-install on a newly deployed machine.

Additionally if you release the license (like I did), I fixed this by spinning up a new blank VM with the same IP, registering it, and then reassociating the IP with the actual instance which fixed the license right up.
It's weird these backwards tricks work but 3CX support can't click a button to change it :/
