Cloning systems

I've got some nearly identical locations to set up. Same number of lines, same number of trunks from the same provider, same make and model phones, etc. The only differences being labels, DIDs, and passwords.

How can I go about setting up the first system soup to nuts and then cloning it (hold music, schedules, etc.) to additional locations?

Not trying to skirt any licensing, these will be each be paid for. Just hoping to save the time redoing all the settings by hand.

Just take a backup without license key and FQDN and then restore. You'll have to hand edit the trunk settings and other one offs but you can import DIDs and extensions to make the bulk changes for those.

Thought about trying that, but wasn't sure it'd work. I've had problems with hidden settings doing that with other things in the past.

I'll give it a shot later tonight.

i've never done this to create two separate pbx at the end, just done a reinstall for change OS or computer change for same PBX with backup.

I don't know like you suspect it can stay some persitent settings from first install on second one and one day you are obliged to restart from scratch on second one.

Are you sure you'll be winner to do a clone try? are your settings so big to re-do ?

IMO this is something good to test before on lab when you have time to loose and see if it works like you hope.

For now when you upgrade PBX from previous version you have not the same result as a direct install from latest so for 2 cloned PBX what can be the result?

Maybe I'm worried about nothing, but hey, if your goal is to save time, in the end you're not really sure what cloning is going to produce

If it was me sure at all I'll not try this to production without having tested before.

This is just my opinion, of course your are free to do it and let us know if it was a win/win process or not.
