hi everyone

We've had a few ocassions where clients want to use "supported phones" but they wont work behind STUN or SBC's. the 3cx servers are cloud based behind public ip's.

3cx said to use VPN, but thats not possible with public ips. Anyone got any ideas how we should set up ?

Advice or thoughts appreciated

You might want to provide the model(s) of the phones in question.
I'm assuming that you are trying to auto configure the sets, and that is the issue? In most cases, sets that are unable to use STUN (don't have STUN settings), should be able to use the SBC, as the set considers the call "local". Depending on the set, you might have to manually configure.

If you provide more details on your networks, someone may be able to help with some VPN suggestions.

Not to insult 3cx but the current 3cx SBC is not a true enterprise SBC. If you are a service provider you really should be using an enterprise SBC, it will help address a number of deployment scenarios, NAT transversal issues and eliminate customer side complexity like VPNs or customer-side settings. NATPass is one example, they are even interop tested with 3cx. http://www.natpass.com

I know George Bardissi from BVOIP actually offers their NATPass SBC service as a cloud solution if you don't want to host/setup yourself.
