License flexibility to tailor your license to current operational needs.

Following our recent announcement about the new Basic Edition, we want to dive deeper into the ability to downgrade your edition at renewal time. We understand that business needs evolve. What was a necessity one year may become an underutilized feature th...

Can I ask a quick question, I note that the feature comparison page states that 3CX Basic doesn't include the option of a Custom FQDN. For those customers and partners who use their own FQDNs will they be prevented from downgrading?

Its currently a PRO feature so you shouldn't downgrade to a Basic edition. No we will not check every feature you are using and then prevent you - you have to check the feature set yourself and see if the basic edition feature set is for you or not.

Maybe someone wants to downgrade and not use a particular feature and then will disable it after.

We have Enterprise version on Windows, and we are going to downgrade to Pro

This is what 3CX support told us about the process:

"In this case, the license cannot be directly downgraded on the existing PBX, but a fresh installation and a backup restoration is requied in this case.

The recommended approach would be:
  1. Take a full backup of the existing PBX without including the FQDN and license key details.
(You may refer to our Backup & Restore Commands guide for more details)
  2. Purchase the PRO 48 SC license.
  3. Install a new PBX using the PRO 48 SC license from the Portal.
  4. Once the new PBX is up and running, restore the previously taken backup (the one without FQDN and license key details).
Note:
The restore cannot be performed during the installation wizard. The backup file should first be uploaded to a backup location accessible by the new PBX, and the restore should then be initiated from Admin Console > Backups."

Is this really the case ? In your blog you mention that

"Seamless Transition

Once you select the PRO Edition during renewal and complete the transaction, your system will automatically transition to the new, more cost-effective license tier when the previous one expires."

Full system reinstall is not really a seamless transition

Have you tried doing it in your portal?

Portal is not the problem. Our reseller will handle the license for us
The problem is the system itself. 3CX told us that we will need to do a full reinstall to be able to use the new license

If the license is downgraded from the portal, then no you won't need that.

Hello flash999:

I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

As per the support ticket you would like to:
  1. Downgrade a 32SC ENT to Pro, and
  2. Upgrade from 32SC to 48SC
The process has to be done in 2 steps:
  1. Downgrade to PRO & renew the subscription
  2. Upgrade from 32SC to 48SC
If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact our CSR team: https://www.3cx.com/contact/
