We have found that our 3CX install is having an issue sending email invites to audio conferences.
I see that this is something that has been reported on a couple of threads but I cannot locate an open thread or a resolution for this issue.

System notifications (backup notification, services stopped notification, test email) are all working as expected. The only emails not working as expected are invites to conferences.
3CX is not displaying any errors in the log following a conference being scheduled or started which is when you might expect an email to try to go out.

3CX version 15.5
Mail traffic via O365

This functionality definitely did work previously but as it is not used regularly, its not clear when exactly it started to fail.
3CX support will not assist without purchase of a support contract.

A couple of potential fixes I have seen here are to switch from O365 to Gmail or the 3CX solution but this is really an inconvenience and would require creation of accounts, implementation, documentation and sign-off.

Really hoping there is a better way of resolving this.

Kyle,

Regarding the mail traffic you're sending through O365. Are you using the credentials of a mailbox to connect, or using O365's send connector?

Thanks for the reply.

We are using mailbox credentials.

Thanks,

Gotcha. We're running v15.5, but using O365 send connector.

When I create Audio/Video conferences, I use the 3CX webclient. After I create the conference, it takes me directly into my O365 mailbox. where I can send out the invite. Meaning, it's sending from my direct email, and not the email we have configured in 3CX. Does yours perform the same? I'm unsure if there are other ways of creating the conference, I've always used the 3CX webclient for ease.

Another update - I just tried creating a conference from the 3CX Windows client. It successfully sent the invitation from the email we have configured in 3CX. I would start by logging into O365 and checking message trace for the mailbox you have configured in 3CX. See if the emails show up there

Thanks for the assistance Casey,

My expectation would be that after starting or scheduling a conference via the windows client, the email invite would be sent from 3CX with no interaction required from myself. All the emails should be going from a central account not from the individuals account.

Firstly, I will check the message trace as you mention.
Then, for the sake of testing, I will create a gmail account and confirm that O365 is the issue.

Thanks again! I will be sure to return and post my results

Kyle, you're correct. When starting/scheduling conferences via the Windows client, no interaction is needed to send the invite email from the central account. It's just the webclient that allows you to send it from individual accounts.

I'll keep my ears on for an update!

Hello @Kyle Jones

Please note that this was a known issue for V15.5 SP6. The solution is to upgrade to V16 where this issue has been resolved.

Finally got around to switching 3CX over to a Gmail account and sorted the issue straight away. Hooray!

Now it appears all system emails are sending as expected including invitations to scheduled calls...... But! when an attendee responds to that invitation by either accepting the invite or declining, there is no update to the calendar appointment of the sender. So its impossible to tell if the intended recipient has received or responded to the invitation.

@YiannisH_3CX - Is there a fix for senders not receiving updates on calendar invites for v15.5? if not, is this fixed in v16?

Thanks a lot to you both,
Kyle
