Configuration gateway grandstream 4104 on remote 3cx

i am configuring with grandstream 4104 gateway on a remote 3cx PBX but auto provisioning does not work.
How can I configure it?

If the firmware is up to date it should auto provision after putting the provisioning string into the config server path.

Do you see any attempts of registering in the activity log?

You don't.

3CX only supports this gateway when it is local to the PBX per the guide:

As @cobaltit said the device is not supported for remote provisioning. The provisioning link generated by the management console can only be used locally in the same LAN. You can create a site to site VPN and however so that the gateway is locally reachable by the PBX.

Thanks for the answers, I too had read that the gateway must be inside the lan network for self-configuration, but I thought there was a solution since 3cx has the possibility of being on a cloud platform. In this case, in addition to the VPN, what type or brand or model of gateway should I use for a remote configuration?
Because it seems strange to me that 3CX didn't plan to use a remote gateway.

As a rule we do not recommend gateways for cloud hosted systems so we do not support any devices. We always recommend using a SIP Trunk and moving away from gateways to have a better user experience.

Your path would be on-premise PBX if you can't get away from the POTS lines. Once you eliminate the need for a gateway by moving to SIP, then you can move the PBX to the cloud.

I have a reliable working setup using a Grandstream GXW4108 (same hardware as yours but 8 FXO lines instead of 4...) with a remote 3CX server installed in a datacenter. You must run a free 3CX SBC locally to the 4104/4108. The gateway will then register to your main 3CX through this SBC.
Honestly it was very hard to setup. I banged my head when I realised the auto-provisoning thing won't work. I don't recall all the steps I did to get it 100% running. But it works!
