Hello,

Is it at all possible to configure 3CX to send an email as soon as an extension / IVR receives an inbound call?

I have a scenario where a CRM system tracks inbound phone calls based on emails sent by a phone system. The functionality works fine for voicemails but I can't find a way of firing emails as soon as the call comes in?

The business currently has an Asterisk / FreePBX box that has been modified for their needs, so I am looking to do the same with 3CX - hopefully without having to purchase any third party bolt ons.

Many thanks,

Jamie

Not aware of a feature such as that. I suspect that there is not a big demand.

You can do this using a CFD that sends an email then forwards to the main IVR.

Thanks for replies and sorry for the slow response

I'll check this all out today

Ah I did not notice that it wants the log immediately, if this is a restriction that needs to be met, there may be other options. I've moved the thread to the appropriate category in case you wish to explore this avenue further and get suggestions

The Call Flow Designer (CFD) option suggested by Frederick Marcoux is the easiest approach provided you route all inbound calls to the same location (although I suppose you could look at the number the caller dialed and route accordingly). If you need to route to multiple extensions based on the number the caller dialed, then you would need to duplicate the CFD for each path.

Alternatively, and this is far more complicated, you could create a server-side service that connects to 3CX via the Call Control API. You would need to subscribe to the "Connection" + "Insert" event. Keep in mind that this event is fired for ALL calls (extension-to-extension and transfer calls as well as external calls) so you would need to evaluate the event to determine if this is the first leg in the call so the email is not sent multiple times.

If you use the 3CXPhone for Windows, you can configure it to launch an app when your extension rings. This way you can create a program that sends the email, and you invoke it this way.

You can configure this from 3CXPhone > Settings > Advanced Settings > Behavior > External Application:

The last hour has been my first experience with CFD and I'm pleased to say I've now done what I need, so many thanks for the help!

I've created a basic app that I've set as the destination of a few IVR menus which sends the email with "x called at *time*", after which the call is then bounced in to a call queue. Relatively simple in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks again

Glad to hear!
