I'm getting this error: Backup location configuration error. Please proceed and verify the configuration.
when go into my ftp configuration for backups and hit ok. all my backups are failing across the board. i'm using amazon lightsail and prem based windows and getting the same message. I can get into the ftp server (win server 2016) and connect via file explorer (from remote location) ok, including adding / removing files, just not on the 3cx. The only thing that changed is that i installed a new draytek vigor 2926 router. Since its the only thing that's changed, i'm guessing its the culprit, except that i can connect to the ftp server on any other platform. Any ideas?

Are only Scheduled backups failing or manual backups too?

Provided this happens for manual backups too, I would recommend performing a packet capture on the 3CX PBX while attempting to perform a backup to then review and confirm if the issue is related to the new firewall or to at least narrow it down.

did anyone figure this out? i have the same issue

I would hope it's the same issue since you are the original poster :) .

But ultimately this is not a 3CX issue. Did you perform the steps @ChrisC_3CX outlined? None of us have a crystal ball to see why things aren't working. But if you want something that just works, Google Storage would be the way to go.

lol, i didn't even realize that i was my post. and yes, i'll try what he suggested. thanks

I've been away for a while and i'm finally circling back to get to the bottom of this. My pbx is in the cloud, so i don't think i'll be able to do a packet capture

Dashboard > Activity Log, choose All Interfaces in the dropdown and click Start.

It will do a capture. Follow the on-screen instructions.

i got the support files, but don't understand it. i started the capture, tried to connect to the ftp site but couldn't. i've attached the dropbox link if anybody cares to take a look. thanks

I have downloaded the Support Info provided though I have removed it from the public thread for security reasons.

I've went ahead and taken a look at the packet capture and have found the following:

The FTP server enters Extended Passive mode and provides 3CX with a new port(1) on which 3CX must start a connection. The 3CX PBX initiates a connection to the specified port(2) but never receives a response:

Based on the above, you'll need to make sure that the port range the FTP uses for extended passive mode is accessible from the outside on the firewall(FTP end).
