The situation is detiorating! My number is now ringing and ringing. It's always worked before and today it's not. What would be causing this now?

I've been out for a couple days as my wife had our first baby (it's a boy), so I haven't been checking in on the thread.

Henk,

I use no number to reach an outside line, just pick up the phone and call. How do I make a dial plan that works with that?

Congrats with the boy, first one??? Got a few little muppets myself, it is amazing how time disappears into a "black hole" with kids around.

Using no prefix number to dial outside works as follows:

- 3CX needs to be told not to wait for a prefix you can do this by defining the Numbers with a length of (more than your extension)
- On your phone (if it has the option) change the digital map, to set the time out to 5 second and start dialing after x amount of digits. This is not necessary but just a bit of extra information for you on how to make the phone "fire" quicker to dial out.

A general Sipura dial plan looks like (assume the numbers are subscripts)

(<a1:b1>c1<:@gwX1>|<a2:b2>c2<:@gwX2>|...)

<a:b> is basically a substitution syntax for stuff dialed at the beginning of the dial plan. OPTIONAL

Some examples include:
<8:1415> Replace a dialed "8" with "1415" (e.g. if user dials 84286511, we send 14154286511).
<:1415> Insert a "1415" into the number dialed
<9,:> When a 9 is dialed, present a second dialtone. The "9" is not sent.
<9:> If an initial 9 is dialed, don't send it.

c is a string of characters that restricts what digits can be dialed. THIS IS REQUIRED

These characters can be:
* means the star (asterisk) key
# means the pound (hash) key
x means a single digit (0 through 9)

[x-y] means any digits x through y.
[xy] means the digits x and y (can put any number of digits here)

. means repeat the previously listed digit type zero or more times. For example x. means "zero or more digits," xx. means "one or more digits."

S0 is usually used at the end of a dial plan string that says "immediately dial when matched." Used for things like 911.

! is used at the end of the dial plan and it means "immediately reject the number dialed." Used to block, say, 900 numbers.

A few examples:

[2-9]xxxxxx matches typical 7-digit dialing in the US.
011xx. matches North American style International dialing (011 followed by one or more digits)
[49]11S0 matches either 411 or 911 and immediately dials (doesn't wait for digit timeout)

<:@gwX> is specific to the SPA and means "dial out this gateway." OPTIONAL

This is specific to the SPA and is optional.
Basically it means "if you match the dial plan listed, dial out this gateway."
If nothing is specified in this part of the SPA dial plan on line 1, dial out via the VoIP provider defined on Line 1. T
The gateways are defined in the Gateway Accounts section of the Line 1 tab. gw0 is special and means "dial out the PSTN port."

gwX can also be replaced by a list of parameters that represent what's listed in the Gateway Accounts section.

Examples

Now for an example from the SPA.

([2-79]11<:@gw0>|xx.|*xx.|**xx.|<#1,:>xx.<:@gw1>|<#9,:>xx .<:@gw0>|<#9,:>*xx<:@gw0>)

This breaks down as follows:
* 211, 311, 411, 511, 611, 711, and 911 are routed out the PSTN Line (gw0).
* An arbitrary number of digits, which will be routed out the Line 1 VoIP Provider configuration;
* dial * then dial one or more digits (routed out Line 1 VoIP Provider);
* dial ** then dial one or more digits (routed out Line 1 VoIP Provider);
* dial #1 then dial one or more digits (routed out Gateway 1 Provider (gw1));
* dial #9 then dial one or more digits (routed out PSTN Line);
* Dial #9* then two digits (routed out PSTN Line, i.e. for star codes).

Hope this helps.

H.

If you are unable to dial out or receive PSTN calls (only PSTN), the best thing to do is to factory reset your SPA.

Configure it to talk to 3CX and than for the the PSTN connect direct to configure the SPA as follows:

In the Line 1 Tab
1. Dial plan enter something like <#9:><:@gw0>. #9 being what you dial to get through to the PSTN. You can use another combination if you like.
2. In the PSTN Tab:
Leave dial plan 1 empty
Make sure VoIP-To-PSTN Gateway Enable is set to “Yes”
Line 1 VoIP Caller DP: “1”
VoIP Caller Auth Method: “PIN”

Thanks Henk, I'll try to wrap my head around those later on.

I'm having trouble with transferring to an outside number via our voip line. I get a transfer failed message. I'll try and get a log up here, but it's worked in the past and now we are having some trouble. Fun fun.

You wait till the missus puts you on nappy duty :-), that gives a whole different meaning to the word fun, it is more like F.U.N (LOL).

Problem tranfer to voip? that is the easy part really. (well it should be).

I am having the same problem and have tried everything listed here and more but can not figure this out. I have narrowed it down to the point that the calls that are not answered so far ar only from cell phones (this may or may not hold true). If I call from my other "land line" 3CX answers the call and it works perfect. If I call from either one of two cell phones the SPA3102 acknowledges the call and tries to pass it to 3CX but it never completes the "transfer". Below are two screen captures that were taken while the line was ringing, one from each type of call.

This one worked fine:

This one never got answered by 3CX:

When 3CX does not "answer" the line there is NO information at all in the log.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you hook up an analogue phone to the spa? I like to know if it actually activates the FXO.

I plugged in a phone and it works just fine. My info looks exactly like dyntech's when the problem occurs and like him it is cell phone specific.

Also, could this be a related problem to the transferring of calls? I can make call out on the voip line with no problem, but transfers do not work. They have in the past, and I have no idea what the problem is now.

Right now we are using a standard phone while we work through these issues. I love the features of 3cx, but if we can't be called, it won't work. Hopefully there is a good solution. Thanks for all the help guys.

Mutti, although the Linksys devices are quite powerful, they can also be a real treat to get setup properly (as is evidenced by the number of forum posts pertaining to Linksys device questions 8). ) If you are keen on setting up a 3CX phone system, then I would suggest investing in a Patton gateway from the 3CX recommended list. I have setup a Patton and also a Grandstream GXW-4104, both are pretty easy to setup, however, the Patton will give the best audio quality of the two. I am currently using an Audiocodes MP-114 and although the audio is great, I would certainly not tell you they are easy to setup, and to make things worse, Audiocodes is not known for their support (at least to the end-users). This is another reason i would suggest one of the Patton gateways over all others if your budget allows.

Hope this helps!

Yes Henk,
It does actually work with an analog phone. I was not planning on using it for that so it was not setup for it.

Might be a dial plan issue, do not know for sure. Ill have a look at it later today (its 2AM in the morning now so time to have a snooze).

LOL,

I am sure the linksys device can give the patton a run for their money. I configured a SPA3102 a few yrs back and have not changed it since, I took it to do some demo's and people where amazed on the voice quality. But the end of the day it is your personal pref. and budget.
Now Linksys is owned by Cisco the quality can only improve I guess.

H.

Henk,

LOL,

Where did you read anything negative in regards to the "Voice Quality" of Linksys devices ? 8)

I simply said they can be a real "treat" to get setup and working properly, and considering most every current post in the forums related to gateway device problems/questions, is pertaining to a Linksys, that was a very legitimate observation.

Could someone with a working UK SPA 3102 post a config file, im beginning to wonder somehow the changes aren't working correctly.

Could someone with a working UK SPA 3102 post a config file

Here is my 3102 config (2 HTML files zipped up. Download, extract & double click). It's been working fine for ages here (in the UK - so regional settings applied).

Note:
My 3102 IP is 192.168.1.152
My 3cx server is 192.168.1.150
Line 1 is disabled - though has been tested & works fine if enabled.
For reasons lost in the mists of time it is set up with the PSTN line as using SIP port 5061 and Line 1 using 5060, so long as this is reflected in 3cx then all will be well. should work either way round.

Good luck!
Chris

I just have to throw in my 0.02 worth.

In my opinion the Linksys SPA-3102 is the biggest piece of CR%& I have ever seen. I have one that works only when it wants and when it does the sound quality is usually terrible on my side. I have had it for over a year and most of the time I have not been using it because of the quality. The only reason I am even bothering with it now is to advance my knowledge of 3CX and SIP.

If I had to do it all over again I would NOT buy a Linksys SPA-3102.

If anyone in the US has one working half way decent I love to see your configs.

Most of the time it is carbon based, not hardware based.

What type of config do you need?

One that works in the US!
