We are migrating to 3CX and we have built a number of phones / extensions and I see that nothing is populating in the CONTACTS. What do other people do to build their contacts list? We do not have an accurate list anywhere that I can easily import. The process of migrating to 3CX is the only time that we are actually building an accurate contact list.

Also, I see numerous references to Company Address Book as well. Is 3CX using these two terms synchronously ?

TIA,

Amir

So I'm starting to understand that the CONTACT menu in the Web Console is really for third party contacts. This is unrelated to the 3CX Company Address Book - which is apparently published to phone based on the extensions build in 3CX.

What I'm assuming is there is not web console access to this address book - yet I see privileges like "can managed company phone book" - which imply that there is web console access to this address book.

Could someone clarify this?

Amir

Hi @amir_

The right "can managed company phone book" allows the extension to add / edit and delete (as opposed to just be able to call) the contact in the list straight from the Web Client.

The contacts added in the management console are available to ALL extensions. However the extension can add personal contacts which are only visible to that extension itself.

If I've not explained this clearly, please feel free to ask anything else you'd like to know.

Hi,

So essentially there is:

1. A "central" contact list that is visible to all extensions and that is managed via the Web Console >> Contracts.

2. Granting the "managed company phone book" allows Web client users to add/edit/delete contract entries in this "central" contact list.

3. In addition to the central contact list visible to all extensions, and editable by users with the "managed company phone book" right, individual users can build their own private contact list using the web client.

So my only remaining questions are:

1. What is meant in the 3CX documentation which refers to the "COMPANY ADDRESS BOOK"?

2. I assume that the "COMPANY ADDRESS BOOK" is simply all the extensions registered in 3CX - correct?

3. I assume that this "COMPANY ADDRESS BOOK" is what is visible to our Yealink phones correct?

4. Is there a way to "EXPORT/IMPORT" this "COMPANY ADDRESS BOOK"?

TIA,

Amir

I have a user complaining that the contact list she added to her physical Yealink phone are not sync'ed to her contact list she see when using her Web Client.

These are certainly sync'ed correct?

1 & 2. The company address book is all of the CONTACTS that you've added. Not the extensions.

3. However on your Yealink phone, the CONTACTS and EXTENSIONS will be visible.

4. Yes, by exporting you will only export the CONTACTS, however if you navigate to C:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Http\Interface\Provisioning\[folder] and find the yealink_phonebook it will give you all of the extensions as well.

The sync can only happen one way, which is from the PBX (Web Client) to the Phone and not the other way around. If they're unable to see the latest added contacts they've added on the PBX, showing on the Yealink phone, navigate to Phonebook and manually update with the update option. It will pull the data from the abovementioned yealink_phonebook.

To that end, instruct the user to add the contacts on the Web Client. If they've added a user on the physical phone, it will be overwritten when it is reprovisioned.
