Correct way to change Public external IP address from Dynamic to Static?

Anyone know the correct way of doing this? Is it as simple as click on the network IP address on the dashbash and set it to static? Currently I'm running it in dynamic because we do not have a static IP yet. Now I have a static IP and i want to change it. Is this the correct way of doing it?

As above, just be patient if running std or pro - can take 6 hrs for the change to take affect
