First, thank you so much for even stopping to read this - I truly appreciate it!

I've a few asterisk and FreePBX installs under my belt in years past, still trying to learn the nuances of 3CX.

I have a self-hosted system in an Amazon Lightsail instance - using Flowroute as ITSP. Problem I'm having is that all calls from the PBX to cell phones show up as "Unknown." Flowroute has confirmed that I have CNAM setup properly. They say that when I initiate calls and send my DID in the records, it will pull the (already approved) CNAM name record. Unfortunately, what is being sent from my PBX is incorrect. I will paste their tech support thread below. Here's a sample of a call record:

2023-02-08 11:36:18 -0800 : 35.160.247.109:5060 -> 10.200.2.51:5060
INVITE sip:[email protected] SIP/2.0
Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 172.26.4.229:5060;branch=z9hG4bK-524287-1---02d7ec70bc195608;rport
Max-Forwards: 70
Contact: <sip:[email protected]:5060>
To: <sip:[email protected]>
From: "Bryan Cole"<sip:[email protected]>;tag=bd0d9d1e
Call-ID: fWx_zH3AfN4uZ2VAwc7iKg..
CSeq: 1 INVITE
Allow: INVITE, ACK, CANCEL, OPTIONS, BYE, REGISTER, SUBSCRIBE, NOTIFY, REFER, INFO, MESSAGE, UPDATE
Content-Type: application/sdp
Supported: replaces, timer
User-Agent: 3CXPhoneSystem 18.0.6.908 (908)
Content-Length: 291

They say: "Below is the INVITE we are getting from your call today. If you look at the Contact Header and the From Header you can see you are still sending KingsMartialArts in the SIP URI and not at the phone number. You will want to have the From number in those locations and not KingsMartialArts. How to fix this will depend on your PBX/Softphone setup. You will need to speak to your PBX/Softphone administrator to investigate this issue."

So I've corrected the CID field in the system to be the DID - Wherever it said "KingsMartialArts" in the past, it now says the proper DID. however..

Here's the part I don't understand. Note the 408417XXXX number in the SIP: invite and To lines? That's my cell phone (I typed the xxx part to keep folks honest). Why is my cell phone number being sent in the SIP URI? The only place my cell number appears in the User config is in the field called "Mobile Number." I have no idea why 3cx would care what my mobile number is, but I suspect that something else is going there, as I don't think that my mobile number belongs in a SIP URI.

I;'m sure this is a silly dumb thing - thanks for taking the time to read this!

Now I'm even more stumped. I can't find any entry of "KingsMartialArts" anywhere in the system yet I still get records like this:

From: "Bryan Cole"<sip:[email protected]>;tag=829a7b3

Is there a service that needs to be restarted when certain changes are made by chance? Does anyone know exactly which field is being used to populate the "KingsMartialArts@" ?

Ok...does the name show correctly when calling a landline (or some numbers)? If it does then it may be the mobile provider not passing on the name, or simply not receiving it. Not all mobile providers send name display, many simply send a number, expect that it may match a contact on your phone, and the phone displays that name.

Please confirm that in the users general tab under Caller ID you have a DID and not “KingsMartialArts”

You caller ID could be set under 3 locations:

The extensions Outbound caller ID field
The trunks Caller ID field
The outbound rules Outbound caller ID field

Also check the main trunk number of the trunk to make sure there is nothing there either.

Did you use the default template included in the PBX to set up your trunk? If not then please delete the trunk and recreate it with the proper settings.

Sorry for the slow reply - thanks for taking the time. Recipient calls are showing up as "unknown" with no number displayed.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I did mistakenly have text in the "Outbound caller ID" field, but I have since changed that... Im stumped.

Thanks so much for the detail! You found it!
I had the name in the outbound callerID where there should have just been the number.

Thank you SO much for the help!
