I am having issue finding on google. I just started using Debian, and looking from the windows failover script, i could not find the same script online. If there is any recommended links hope you can send me, thanks.

So it really isn't Debian specific either. It depends on where your internal DNS is. But if you are looking at failover then you would probably stick with Windows if that's what you are comfortable with. For any more specific help you would need to describe your setup.

As @cobaltit said, the failover in 3CX is sort of independent from the script. Depending on the DNS Server you will be using and what exactly you want the script to do, the first thing you need to do is make the script.

If you manage to make the script run independently from 3CX, then having 3CX "trigger" when failover occurs is quite simple.

Hi Nick, thanks for the guide.

I am pretty much new to bash scripting and there is no information how to create one for the "failover" , is there any URL or recommendation so i can follow? Thanks.

I think you are missing the 'forest for the trees' as the saying goes. You simply want to google how to create a script to change or update a DNS entry. The script itself doesn't know or care about failover. Once you figure out how to make a script that runs in linux that can reach out to your DNS server to make the change, then you simply tell 3CX to run that script when a failover condition is met. It has nothing to do with 3CX. A google search with keywords "linux script windows dns" turns up several results that should point you in the right direction. If it doesn't, then you probably want to either pay someone who does know these things, or change how you want to handle failover. Personally, I don't use 3CX failover because it's active/passive and because of the scripting requirements. Pretty much every client that has wanted enterprise for failover already has resources in place for redundancy for other critical LOB applications (like virtualization with clustering). Much easier to install 3CX into a VM and let the virtualization handle things.

I am inclined to agree with @cobaltit on this, but on a slightly different note, if you are new to bash, for something as critical as the failover script, maybe you should consider asking someome more experienced to help you out with the script.

Odds are you'll need it once, but that one time it needs to work correctly!
If you are set on doing it youerself, then there are many many resources online that will show you how to do bash scripting and most likely find something nearly ready for what you want.
