Went though : https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/installing-debian-linux-pbx/
But the last screen shot doesn't appear.

I'm running in VMWare Fuision, and although VM has "Host only" it IS pointing through Sophos XG.
I believe network settings are correct, as if they were not I wouldn't have been able to install, since Debian would download config.

After install, Debian reboots, but it asks for login and password, then goes to command line..

To troubleshoot, I re-did install, this time, setting as "Bridged" to get IP from router, so Sophos was out of the picture.. But ended same issue. When I entered IP in browser, nothing, it times out

The only different with "Bridged" was it was al auto-configuration vs static.

Thus proving everything is correctly set.

Sophos and Debian ping each other, but I the fact it goes directly to command line (after login) may also mean PBXconfig is not even starting.. Isn't it supposed tho ask me how I wish to configure??

I tried 3CX on windows, also going through Sophos "Host only network" and no problem there.. It's just Debian install

What am I missing? If drivers were the issue, then I wouldn't be able to ping either..

Hi @TECH198,

Can you re-download the ISO and install it on a new VM? Yesterday Update 3 Final was released and the ISO was replaced. Let me know if this issue persists on the new VM.

Downloaded new ISO, and installed in VM.. Works fine, but only in "Bridged"

Still goes to command line in Host Only, (though Sophos.)..

Would i need to have Sophos acting as DNS ?? as currently Sophos only points to router 192.168.1.1 for DNS access.

Ya, i could just stay with "Bridged" with Debian for now.

Do you have secure boot enabled for the VM? The 3CX installer runs during boot and some UEFI blocks it.

Went through that a few times on Hyper-V.

no Secure boot.. Legacy

I only have one vNic on 3CX "Host only" pointing to Sophos as Gateway & DNS.. but Sophos itself it not acting as DNS, as it points to router 192.168.1.1

You have a router AND the Sophos router/firewall? That's not good.

Also, "Host Only" on VMware means only your local PC can talk to the VM over network. You need bridge for it to get a local IP.

Are you saying the only way to get Debian 3CX to work is Bridged only ??

My setup is as follows:

Sophos XG VM (host only network) DNS and DHCP disabled because it's already detected on LAN.)
LAN >> router >>> ISP.

any Windows VM I put 3CX on i put as Host only (172,x.x. range), and everything works back and fourth communicating with outside word fine..

But with Debian 3CX, only Bridged now works. That's ok for now, but i wouldn't mind also going though HOst Only for that,....

Hi @TECH198,

I wouldn't say that 3CX "requires" a bridged connection to work, only that it would be best to avoid a double NAT situation. You can maybe run the router in bridged mode and let the Sophos firewall control all NAT / port forwarding required.
