This is a typical incoming call from the outside world (ISDN) to IVR, redirect to group, then redirect to one of our DECT
[BeronetBRI] --sip--> [3CX] --sip--> [Spectralink DECT Server 2500/8000] --> Gigaset AS160 DECT Phone

When I receive a call and the INVITE From: header display name is too long, the Gigaset AS160 phone only flashes its lights, does not show caller ID (empty), and no ringtone is played.

So I have a couple of questions:
1) How can I disable the long concatenation of redirections, separated by ':', on the From: header display name field? I only need the caller ID to be shown on the DECT Phone.
2) Any other solution to make the DECT phone ring?

Thank you

Unfortunately, not all phones have a display capable of showing all of the caller ID "name" information. I have a number of Gigaset DECT IP phones (not exactly the same model) and find that only the first 6 of 7 characters of the callers name will show in the display.

I'm not certain that there is a work-around for this, but, other forum members, with experience dealing with the hardware you use, may have some suggestions.

As far as the ringing issue...the phone is obviously acknowledging the incoming call. Do you get audible ringing on any type of calls? I'm thinking, it is a handset/base unit option that is causing this.

Yes I get audible ring on any type of call.
The maximum accepted length of the From: display name part seems to be 40 characters, both for Gigaset AS160 and Gigaset AS180. When 40 characters are exceeded, there is no audible ring on the handset, but the handset is still showing the caller ID. The caller ID disappears with longer strings.
As a workaround I reduced the length of all the "forwards" accumulating on the From: header field: I reducet the length of the digital receptionist name and reduced the length of the ring group name.

Hello @giox069

Please note that you can choose not to include all this information into the Callers Name through the management console. To do so navigate to Contacts / Options and under "Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI Names to Caller ID" select the option "Do not add"

Let us know if that solves your issue

Thank you @YiannishH_3CX! "Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI Names to Caller ID" was exactly what I was looking for.
Issue is solved setting it to "Do not add", because our users don't need to see all the path of an incoming call.

Glad i could help and to see that issue has been resolved
