What is the reason for limiting the delete digits, on a dialed string, to 9, in the outbound rules? This prevents the complete replacement of a phone number longer that that many digits. If for example, employees were calling a company that had a toll free alternative, the substitution of the full number could be done in the rules.

In a related question...some people over the years have had to resort to using a "loop trunk", to send a dialed number out then back into the PBX, to a DID, when people "forget" to dial the DID directly.

While this method saves any call charges for an outgoing/incoming call, it also uses continues to use two simultaneous calls. If the outbound rules allowed the deletion of a "full" phone number, and the replacement with an extension, Ring group, queue etc and the route drop down menu contained an entry called "Local Call", or "Route Internal", then the number could be handled internally. This would use only one call.
