How do I delete voicemail by extension? My default setting is send email and delete from system. Except for a 2 users where email is saved in system. The storage use is very high and I need to delete their voicemails. Using version 16 std, Debian. Thanks for your help.

If all you want to do is delete all the voicemails for a specific extension, you can simply navigate to the voicemail folder on the 3CX server, select the desired extension folder, and delete the files.

Alternatively, you may want to take a look at our 3CX Voicemail Manager tool. With our tool, if you are a manager of the extension, you can select which voicemails to delete, or delete all of the voicemails for a specific extension. We also have a retention policy that can delete voicemails older than the specified number of days automatically. The tool also provides enhanced group voicemail boxes, voicemail escalation, the ability to add an introduction to a voicemail before forwarding to another extension, archiving, and more...

What folder would it be in Linux? Strange 3CX has no documentation on this.

Curiously, I have seen some variability based on where 3CX is installed so the safest way to determine the path is to look it up in the 3CX Console. Select: Settings --> Parameters. In the search box enter VOICEMAILBOX_PATH. It will display the path.

Thank you...That helped. BTW have sent your website details to our product folks to look at VoIPtools. Appreciate your help.

Just want to add that we would not actually suggest deleting the files directly from the filesystem. Rather, either access the Webclients of those extensions and delete the voicemails you want from there, or, dial 999 for the special menu, press #, enter extension number and it's voicemail PIN, then delete voicemails from there.

Also, if you are having issues with disk space, you might want to have a look at the options available in the Management Console in regards to voicemail under "Settings >> Voicemail".

What is the concern about deleting the files directly? The file system watcher cleans everything up in 3CX.

In order to avoid any accidental mishaps, we generally recommend not accessing the filesystem at all, unless absolutely required. Since this specific process can be handled via 3CX, doing so would be the best option.
