Deploying Grandstream HT812

Hi Guys,

Trying to setup Grandtream HT812 for foip. When connected to the system it shows up in the phones "NEW" it doesn't give me the option to assign extension number 888. The provisioning method only has option for local LAN in but our system is cloud based and uses SBC. The web UI for the device has 3cx auto provision, I can't find where I can manually add the server url.

888 is a Fax extension is it not? Fax is not supported unless the device is local, or when using VPN. There are a number of posts on attempting to use Fax in a configuration other than those two, if you search. However, reliability is not a guarantee and configuration will probably have to be manual.

I'm guessing you started reading the guide at step 1? If you read the paragraph before that you'll see this:


FXS gateways connect internal analog devices such as fax machines and analog phones and register them as extensions / fax extensions to your PBX. Those extensions can be addressed as normal phones, however, their functionality is limited due to the capabilities of the analog technology.

Notes:

• The device must be local to 3CX, in the same subnet and/or locally routed subnet (including site to site VPN)
• Ensure that you have created the extensions, (or fax extensions), before adding the FXS gateway to the PBX.

And 888 is the internal fax server extension. You can't assign a device to it nor do you need to.

Sorry I meant 880, so I have everything setup as per the instructions. It's giving me a block WAN request, I know in the normal extensions you need to un tick Disallow use of extension outside the LAN (Remote extensions using Direct SIP or STUN will be blocked) but there is no setting under fxs/dect

The same goes for the fax extensions. They have to be local. Only regular extensions can be used remotely.
