Hi,

We have had to redeploy 18.12.412 last week as PWA wasn't acceptable for the company and this version was pushed with our various deployment tools. With 18.12.425 being released and approved for deployments, only a few users who i updated the 3CX Desktop Client as the user have promoted to update to 18.12.425 whereas the rest have not.

So it seems that all those deployed using SCCM, PDQ etc do not receive the update prompt which is nothing but a PIA in terms of I.T. administration time.

Is there a way to prompt the Desktop Client to display the update prompt so users can do this in their own time or will 3CX fix this so no matter the deployment method the update option is seen by all users?

Cheers.

.422 hopefully? I don’t think there was a .412 but .416 was infected.

Does it update if they run it as admin?

If they can’t run as admin then I’m not sure how it would be expected to self update. It’s designed to run in the user context.

Why not deploy the new version with the same tools?

Users cannot run as admin. Some users were able to update successfully without admin rights or creds which i found is strange. Yes, this was .422 to .425, i removed .416 the moment i seen shit hit the fan.

I'd rather users update it themselves as many are on calls and some are precious and love to complain but if i have to stick with current deployment options then so be it.

I do have scripts i wrote which updates the Desktop app and starts it up automatically as yep, users complain.

In hindsight, I'd like to see ways within the admin panel where we can push updates from there removing the need to use alternative tools to do so.

Hi,

The app should update within a couple of hours, or if you restart it (right click on tray and exit first).

Upon relaunching it will update automatically unless something prevented it.

You might have to troubleshoot specific PCs to see what prevents it. But check your management console first, if they already updated the new version will appear next to the user under the Phones page.

As I alluded to it normally runs from the user AppData folder so they have rights to write to that. If it has been installed at the PC level then as SweetAction mentioned you may need to deploy the new MSI yourself since standard users don't have access to write there.

Yep, i'm just deploying them myself now, a script i wrote does it all very easily and very quickly.

Thanks for all your help.

Cheers.
