Greetings All,

We're experiencing a weird random dialing issue from certain extensions ever since our users ditched the v16 Windows Client for the new v18 Desktop App. What happens is, once the computer boots up -- the 3CX application starts dialing a random extension number i.e. say User 1 (ext 415) auto dials User 2 (ext 423) every time their computer restarts. This has happened twice thus far to two different users, I reinstalled the application on the user's computer when it first occurred and it seems to have fixed the issue - the random/auto dialing stopped. But now, it happened to another user again and it's becoming concerning.

So is this a bug on the app or is it perhaps configuration issue?

Hi @david_nakalemo,

Are you sure that they're not focusing on the Desktop App dialer and hitting enter by mistake while typing, it will bring up the last dialled number. By reinstalling you're flushing any numbers stored so that would make sense that it wouldn't happen.

If you're sure they're not, is it reproducible? If no, can you report it to me the next time it happens as it happens to log on and check it out?

Hi @VasilisV_3CX -- I've been reassured that the issue isn't caused by a user action, the dialing happens immediately after the application starts up after logging in. These are remote users so I haven't seen it happening myself and wasn't able to reproduce it after the last occurrence -- it happened once and never again till date.

But I'll be glad to report it to you if it happens again to any of our users so you check it out.

Thanks for reporting it @david_nakalemo, I'll leave this thread open until it automatically closes. If it happens again, let me know. Sounds very odd.

Hi,
I'm also experiencing this issue. A user of our internal system boots up his PC and immediately it rings a random extension. It was ringing one extension, and now it actually rings my extension each time he boots his machine up. This isn't user error and I've watched him boot up the machine and show me the issue.

Do we have any idea?

Hi @Spire-Jon,

Just to confirm, you're able to restart the PC and without touching it, it starts a call to a random extension each time (it's reproducible)?

Hi,

Every single morning without fail. User logs in and a call is made. Happened today on our system at 08:47.

Can you let us also know which headset you have on the desktop app that is making these calls automatically, please?

We have found a way to replicate this in-house and we believe to have found the root cause.
You can remove any debugging you may have enabled and we plan on providing a fix for this along with V18 U2.

Hi @NickD_3CX -- this is great, I'm so glad that we will finally have a fix for this. Thanks again for keeping an open head and hearing me out. I know I might've sounded a bit crazy since Constatinos wasn't able to find the issue when he logged in last time -- but this is such a big relief.
