In 3CX v20, we are a softphone/web-client-only environment with no physical desk phones.

In the dashboard user view, when a user logs off their computer or their client is no longer registered, the user appears as “Not Registered.” We understand that this reflects endpoint registration state, but for receptionist visibility, this is not the most useful display.

We would like the dashboard or team/presence view to continue showing the user’s actual 3CX status, such as Available, Away, DND, Lunch, or Out of Office, even if the user has no currently registered endpoint.

Ideally, registration state would be shown as a secondary indicator, while the user’s selected presence/status remains the primary display value.

Example:

  • Status: Out of Office
  • Registration: Not Registered
This would be very helpful for organizations using 3CX without physical phones, where users rely entirely on the web client/PWA/softphone.

Hello @pse

What you are describing is the correct behavior from the system's point of view.

When a user has no registered endpoints, the system displays the user's status as Not Registered, indicating that the user is unavailable to receive calls regardless of their currently selected presence status.

At the moment, there is no option to prioritize displaying the user's presence status while showing the registration status as a secondary indicator.

If this is functionality you would like to see implemented, we recommend submitting it as a feature request in the Ideas Forum section, so it can be considered for a future release if it is upvoted by other partners.

Unfortunately, 3CX does not provide a public API for manipulating the 3CX web client display. Your our only options are to either (1) wait for 3CX to change the 3CX client display, or (2) build a custom web client / wallboard / reception console.

I just had a long conversation this morning with our development team about how the 3CX web client is made aware of changes in presences status and phone registration status. Keeping track of the users presence status and a physical phone registration status is straightforward, but it is more complicated to track the registration status of 3CX web clients. That was the majority of our conversation today.

Our wallboards frequently need to show the user's phone status (not-registered, connected, dialing, ringing, available) and their presence status (including our Custom Presence statuses).

We allow the creation of an unlimited number of custom presence statuses, so we needed a create a two-way sync where status changes made in the 3CX web client are reflected in our wallboards and custom presence web client, and status changes made in our custom presence web client need to be reflected in the 3CX web client.

I guess my point is, if you decided to go down the path of creating a custom user interface (wallboard / web client / reception console) we have the skill to do it. We make interactive wallboards where not only can you monitor the users' status, we can also click on an agent and perform actions like listen, barge, whisper, call, transfer, drop, log in/out of queues/ring groups, and change user preference and have those changes reflected in the 3CX web client.
