Hello,

deployed 3cx working, but client would like a situation where some extension would have to type a different code to be allowed to make outgoing external calls.

is this possible with 3cx. read through the billing codes but don't think this is what client is actually looking for.

any help on this.

thank you

Hi, can you give more explainations on what you want exactly to achieve?
for now extensions have to type what to make outgoing calls?

You can create various outbound rules, set to use any prefix you want, for certain types of calls. These can also be setup to apply to certain extensions only, if you wish.

If you wanted to force one extension to use 555 as a prefix, to place long distant calls (in North America, as an example), you'd create a rule for numbers beginning with 5551, 14 digits long, used by extension 202 only, strip 3 digits (the 555), and send out the remaining digits, on the trunk of your choice.

Keep in mind that outbound rules are read from top to bottom, so if the number dialled matches another rule first then that one will be used. You would also have to modify the original outbound rule for numbers starting with 1, that are 11 digits long, or if 202 dialled without the 555 prefix, then that rule would be used.
