Hi all

I have a client who wants to be able to play canned announcements through multicast paging.

Does anyone know if this could be done with CFD? Essentially, I think the best way would be to have a Digital Receptionist type setup, where you dial the paging number (queue for CFD) and then you can dial ahead with an announcement code, or be prompted with a list of pages to be sent. These would be played as a multicast page.

The customer wants to have pre-recorded messages for fire, siege, etc.

Hello @datamerge

Not sure you can do this with just the CFD. I believe that you could probably achieve this with a combination of the Call Control API and CFD. I am thinking you could create an IVR for each scenario with the pre-recorded prompt and a timeout of 1 second, and a paging group. Then based on the selected scenario you could use the call control API to connect the Paging Group to the IVR and have the prompt played to the Paging group. By having the timeout of the IVR set to 1 means that once the prompt is finished playing the IVR will terminate the call.
You could then use the CFD to select which prompt is played. I believe this could work (haven't tried it)

Thanks Yianish. I get it. And then to save on creating multiple scripts, I could create a script that has its own prompts asking for the paging message code 0,1,2,3... It would then make a call to the multicast paging group and transfer to the appropriate IVR, which would then play the message and end call after 1 second.

Sounds easy in theory. In the few times I have had a go at the VAD, I spend about half an hour coding and about 8 hours poring through dot.net reference manuals. I guess I can add the 3CX API reference to this. :)

Yes, I can confirm this is possible with a combination of a CFD and the Call Control API. You could either have a separate CFD for each recorded message, or you could have the CFD ask you for which recording to play. Or, you could take a look at our Emergency (911) Notifier which has both panic and alarm buttons built in.

Thanks Matt.

So would your 911 alerter (we use 000 in Australia) do what I need. Customer wants about 5 canned messages to play.

Cheers
Mark

Yes. You can have an unlimited number of "panic buttons".
