Solved Dial number problem

Hi,

I am in the process wanting to change from freepbx to 3cx.
I have a intercom at the gate of the property that people dial 1) for the house 2) for the studio 3) for deliveries
In asterisk I assigned ring groups assigned to those numbers however in 3cx its not possible because of "invalid extension length"


Can somebody please assist me with this? any information appreciated

I have 3cx version 16
Running on Debian Linux
No trunks

You can actually achieve this by enabling Direct SIP for the PBX and the assigning a SIP ID to those extensions. The SIP ID can be a single digit number or even letters.

All you'll have to do is:

• Enable Direct SIP in "Settings >> Network >> FQDN"
• Edit the Extensions, go to Options, set the SIP ID
• Calling the specified SIP ID will should now dial that extension

Note: Bear in mind that enabling Direct SIP will open your PBX to direct SIP calls from the internet too.

As an alternative, if you didn't wish to allow Direct SIP calls, depending on the intercom options, you could "hotline" to an IVR upon pickup, then provide a message, offering the same options (1, 2 or 3), to reach the destinations.

If, like some ATA's, there is an internal dialplan, dialing single digits could be translated into multiple digits.

That worked perfectly!

I made a dummy extension that just forwards to a ring group
