Hi,

First of all, please don't let my 3cx certification status fool you. It's an open book test and it took me 3 attempts including a lot of guessing to pass :D

I know you can create an inbound rule to directly forward an external call to an extension, or by entering your extension number during the digital receptionist I believe works by default, but this relies on using a separate DDI?

Can you add a suffix to the main phone number (or drop a digit and add the ext.) to directly connect to an extension?

You can forward the only DID you have to the Digital Receptionist and have a Call by Name option.

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve?

If you manipulate any DID number you need to firstly make sure the telco will route the call to you to start with!

You are describing how a DID/DDI works. You cant dial more digits than your national system is designed for. So if you normally dial a 10 digits number, you can't dial 13 and expect your provider to know what to do with the extra digits. That is why when using DID, the extension number is a part of the "whole" telephone number, usually the last 2,3, or 4 digits, The destination (VoIP) provider passes that onto 3CX, then a DID rule routes to the extension.

Hello @CraigC

What do you want to do actually ?

Hi CraigC

Even if the provider passed on the extension ID, the system would not recognise it.

You will either have to use a digital receptionist, or buy a trunk DID range and assign each extension their own DID so they have a direct number.

I think the problem here is I'm asking a question (directly from the end user) and 3CX doesn't appear to support the function.

Thanks - have done this now.
