Currently the only available option is to individually omit extension from being published in the company phone book; however, it would be much more convenient if we could simply disallow an extension from viewing it while still remaining published in it.

This would be extremely beneficial to our contractors as well as some of our customers who operate shared workspaces like WeWork.

Set them up in a different group. That will take care of not being able to see. If you use windows client it will also keep them out of the list. If you have 10 different contractor that don't need to talk to each other, 10 different groups. You can also put those 10 different contractors in the same group so they can talk to each other. If you have people that will communicate with them, no problem, put them in the group as well, users can be in multiple groups.

That works for general use of the web clients “people” pane as well as the “status” menu from within the mobile apps, but the those extensions are still searchable in the search field within the web client as well as in the 3CX app under Contacts > All - is there a way to disable this search field on an extension by extension basis or disallow a user from viewing the “All” group.

the issue we’re facing is we’ve got one group that will need to be able to transfer using the search field in the web client, but nobody else / no other group will need to.

What version are you on? Under the Options, Options again under the extension. There is a " Hide this extension from 3CX company phonebook and 3CX Apps". Will that work?

This particular customer is on version of 16.0.665 - while this option does work it also inhibits the use of the search box in the web client to search for extensions, and transfer to others while on a call by searching for the name.

There was actually a bug that was fixed in a previous release of 16 wherein you could hide all extensions via this method but managers could still use the search box - this was their ideal setup, but of course it was a bug not a feature.

With 251 extensions having to sift through an extension list gets fairly cumbersome.

I think you have a very unique situation because you either have them in groups or you don't. You can either hide them or not. You are wanting to hide, but still search for them. I would post your comments in the other thread as ideas for the next release...If I am understanding your post correctly. :)

I think you’re absolutely correct - it looks like this is going to be a new ideas request.
