Hi Everyone,

In 3CX v18, the PBX changed the SIP From Header Display Info to the First and Last Name, which is indicated in extension, when a call was made between extensions on IP phones.
After upgrading to the 3CX v20, this no longer happens.
Was this a intended feature in version 18 or in was a bug that fixed in version 20?

We use Yealink SIP-T31P and Yealink SIP-T30P.

Hi,

When extension A calls B in V20, we do send the display name in the From header field:

However, the phones also have a PhoneBook and if they match 145 (the user part) they will show whatever is stored in their phonebook. Otherwise, they will show the Display Name field. So If I had the number 145 stored as John, it would show that name instead of "T53C Yealink" which is the actual extension name of 145.

So if in doubt, you can run a pcap on your T31 and confirm what I said above.

If the T31 is not showing the display name, its either due to the phonebook, or because some settings were modified other than the defaults. A factory reset and reprovision should take care of that.

Both phones have been reset to factory settings. The phonebook is not configured on both phones.
T31 and T30 phones uses From Header for Caller ID (Account ->Advanced) in factory settings.

Phone A sends INVITE package to 3CX v18 whith Display Name of the phone.

3CX sends The INVITE package to phone B with First and Last Name of extension.

3CX v20 does not change header.

Ah so you don't actually have an issue, you just want to know if the behavior has changed.

Yes to clarify in V20 the behavior is indeed different: we will pass the Display Name the A sends, to the invite that goes to B.

So if your phone A sends a Display Name, then B will receive that same Display Name with no modification from 3CX.

And if B doesn't have a phonebook to match the user part, it will only show the Display Name.

Of course, if there is no display name or phonebook, you will just see a number on the screen.

Is there any option backroll display name settings as it was on V18? There are a lot of phones on the network which can't handle provisioning and after upgrade to V20 users can't see incomming call name and surname.

Hi,

This that was discussed above is not something you can configure, it's an integral part of V20.

If you have older or unsupported phones you will have to manage them yourself (see if they have settings on which field to read caller ID).
