Add the ability for calls to different groups or queues to have different ring tones.

This can be achieved by selecting the ring type in the group or queue settings and then putting the sting in the alert-info header in the SIP invite. It is supported on most handsets (SNOM, yealink, Hanvil, Htek) and the provisioning templates could be modified to make it work seamlessly.

+1 - I'm embarassed that this was available in Asterisk/FreePBX nearly 5 years ago but still missing here :-(

I was super excited that this might make it into 15.5 Update 4 but alas no. 3CX have added the ability to specify the queue for all queues tone on a per handset basis to the provisioning tab, but still no way of specifying a different ringtone per a queue.

:(

+ 1 For ringtone per Ring Group.

We have one for Call Queues why not groups

This feature is definitely needed. This is pretty basic and most ancient otherwise terrible phone systems we replace have this as basic functionality. It is embarassing to have to tell customers that this isn't supported by 3CX.

I have just tested this in SP6 with several snom handsets and this is now working for me!

To enable after upgrading to the 15.5 SP6 beta you go to "Settings" -> "Phone / Client Options" -> "Use custom ringtones per queue. Note: Each agent will configure distinctive ringtones for the queues. Non configured queues will play the ringtone used for normal calls"

Then on each extension on the provisioning tab there is an option to add a mapping between the queue and the ringtone.

I'm absolutely delighted - well done to the management and dev team and also anyone who contributed to this thread.

Did they fix this for ring groups as well or only for queues? It is a moot point if it does not work for ring groups.

I'm afraid only for queues it seems.

I'm gonna drift off the point I never use Ring Groups and use queues instead because if someone is engaged on a call and then another call comes in on a ring group that they are a member of even after they hang up the phone they never get the ring group call. This results in the dash to another users desk to get the call! A fix for this should be a feature request actually. I think the groups were't developed as much as the queues because at one stage queues may have been a feature that was only available in higher editions?

I'd actually prefer to use ring groups for most initial scenarios only going to a queue if necessary. No point playing a greeting message queue music at a caller if there is an agent waiting. However apart from the issue in the paragraph above, the coming lack of distinctive ringing as compared to queues, there is also the issue that when a call leaves a ring group to overflow to queue it stops ringing, leaves a missed call, and then starts ringing again on the queue. A SIP REINVITE should be used instead of a new INVITE but this would probably require 3CX to maintain internal state differently.

I think the best thing to do would be to merge Queues and Ring Groups on to one feature called Queues and then have an option as to whether the call is connected or not to hold music whilst waiting.

We need this feature for Ring Groups.

I would love this for individual extensions - I have users with multiple desks near each other, and they all scurry back to their desks when anyone's phone rings and they are across the hall making copies or whatever...ability to have individual ring tones would resolve this.

There is a parameter setting to change this behavior - but, it is unsupported by 3cx.

This is not working at all. When I enable that option the drop down to select a queue ringtone disappears. Even before enabling the drop down did not affect Htek phones. It rings with a default tone regardless of what is selected.

need for Queues and also Ring Groups

I need this for Ring Groups! We are using Yealink T48S phones now. Customers ask for this a lot. They don't want the complexity for call queues.

Will it work for Ring Groups too??
