Does a Debian 3cx require a static IP?

Hi,

our small (5 users) Debian on premise 3CX has been running quite well for two years with a static IP (FQDN). However due to a provider change it would be advantageous if it could just as well run with a dynamic IP. This would be a Dual Stack IPv4, probably "semi-static", i.e. changing every couple of weeks. Do you think it will be possible to use this properly or should I do my best to keep the static IP?

If it works with a dynamic IP, what would the ideal settings look like?

If you have no external devices (remote) - phones, 3cx mobile apps, etc you will be fine a dynamic wan IP address.

Just remember to set it to 'Dynamic Public IP (IP changes)' under network settings

I'm using mobile Apps (andoid as well as iOS), but no external phones. Do you think this will still work?

Is this the only required setting? STUN addresses can stay on default values, no additional dynDNS etc necessary?

Really annoying that the internet provider changes its services, would be so simple with a static IP ....

If you are using mobile apps you will have an issue depending on what version of 3CX you are using.

Standard and Pro versions will only update 3CX fqdn every six hours, so these apps may not work for this amount of time while fqdn updates itself.

Enterprise versions 3CX fqdn update is 5 mins (could be 2 mins)
