is there any way to send dtmf tones without having to use the desk phone buttons when in CTI mode using either the web client or the windows client?

it would be nice to be able to press buttons and send DTMF either in the web client or windows client without having to press buttons on the desk phone.

Which handsets are you using? Have you tried both RFC 2833 and SIP INFO methods?

Yealink T48 (i know for sure that i am not able to press buttons for DTMF on the windows client in CTI mode on this handset)

I also have fanvil X4's but have not verified to see if they are able to press buttons from the web or windows client for DTMF tones

I was using RFC2833 and switched to SIP INFO but neither seem to work. the keypad on my win client is grayed out when i'm on a call

the keypad shows up in the web client when i'm on a call but pressing buttons does not send DTMF

What is the use case for this functionality during a call ? For example sending DTMF for a credit card number or something like that?

i tried RFC2833, in band, and sip info. all with the same results (see attached screen shot of grayed keypad while on call)

yes, selecting options under automated menus during a call.

i can press buttons on the desk phone and that works, however, web and win clients do not allow this when in cti (SIP Phone) mode. if i switch to soft phone mode then i can press the keypad buttons on the win client, however the sync between with desk phone and win client is lost.

From a technical point I can probably see why this is the case, sending RFC 2833 packets go via it's own RTP stream and SIP INFO in the actual SIP traffic, only one endpoint can send the digits else they would be duplicated- so I guess it defaults to the deskphone in CTI.

I know of third party integration partners using software for DTMF credit card information so it must be possible.

Hello @Shawn

When in CTI the client is used to control the phone but the actual call is taking place on the phone it self. After the call is established you need to use the IP phone for any input.
