What is the cleanest setup for doing e911 compliance?
I have a 2 building site, and would really like to avoid using per extension CID.
Was really hoping the setting under General, for emergency calls would have a re-write CID field. Alas.

Is the "separate trunks" route the best way?

So there really is no 'best way' in general, just what works best for your environment/setup. Multiple trunks is generally the better way, but if it incurs a cost then it's hard to say that it is the 'best' away vs per extension CID which also has an 'administrative' cost. But that's basically your two options.

I don't want to "like" your reply but well, it is what it is. I saw that this feature is in consideration :\
I wound up doing two IP based trunks from SIPTRUNK and not touching my outbound rules but placing a new emergency rule in General that utilizes that new trunk for building 2. Ran some 933 tests and it seems to work fine.

Other side commentary.
And since 3CX is in the business of larger installs, it would be probably wise to implement an improvement of the 911 notification mechanism. Since right now, I receive those notices by default. It would be best if we could break out notification types to different recipients and have added details sent along too, like station physical location.
Food for thought.
