Enabling IPv6 on V18 / Debian 10

Hello everybody,

I just upgraded to V18 (fresh install with restore of V16 backup). System works fine, but I cannot enable IPv6. I checked the the option in the management interface:


But even after the system restart, IPv6 remains not available:


When going to the system console via SSH, there is no routable IPv6 address:


I can't even ping to the outside world using ping6.

The system is installed on a virtual machine on my hardware. In the same network segment there are other VMs (running Ubuntu, not Debian) that use stateless autoconfigure to get a public routable address. Is there any special setting necessary for Debian 10?

Do you know if your ISP has IPv6? Did you enable it in your hypervisor? What hypervisor are you using, lxc?

Yes, our ISP has IPv6, we have several services (like a nextcloud instance) running as VM under the same hypervisor (Microsoft Hyper-V) that are reachable via IPv6.

Post your /etc/network/interfaces or netplan depending

This is the standard file. I tried adding ra_accept 2 and/or request_prefix 1 to the inet6 entry without any luck. I checked the nf_tables, but ipv6 entries seem to be correct:

Try inet6 dhcp instead of inet6 auto maybe?
