Hi all

What are the implications of adding a handset type that is in the 'end of life' section please?

I assume they will work for now?

Customer has a whole bunch of Yealink T19, but not the E2 type.

Is is likely that the 3CX could upgrade and the phones suddenly stop working?

Cheers!

Normally no a SIP device should be able to work even if EOL or 3CX unsupported but with limitations and no more FW and template update. if you face a bug then 3CX won't provide any help.

Working status may depend on how you use handset , for example if used only local LAN it should be no problem (with limitations) but if you want to use STUN or SBC mode then this could be impossible.

A lot will depend on... the device, how familiar you are with that device (possible issues, configuration, troubleshooting), How much time you may be willing to spend doing this, and whether or not you will be the support person/partner for this customer in the future.

For the most part your answers are at the bottom of the support document in the limitations section:

https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t1-series/

As @aws2p mentioned, any SIP compliant device should work with 3CX. The end of life status means the phones are no longer tested against 3CX nor will support be provided (from 3CX) for issues that may arise.
