I'm planning the development of a very simple integration of 3cx with our ERP software.

The scenario is very simple:
- the phone is ringing
- the ERP user press a button in the ERP system
- the ERP read the caller id from 3CX
- the ERP make a search in the ERP database using the caller id.

How can I retrieve the phone number data from 3cx? I think that with the control api it could be done quite simply but now that they are no longer available I can't figure out which is the best way.

Which do you think is the best solution to implement this functionality?

Best regards

You can configure your 3CX client (Web Client, Windows Client, Desktop app) to launch an URL when the call rings on the agent's phone. This HTTP request could be sent to the ERP, so it receives the caller's number. This will not happen on the other way, you can't query 3CX from your ERP.

Hi Ernesto,

thanks for the informations.

Could you give me some more information about the "Windows Client" setup to launch an URL?

Best regards

In the Windows Client > Settings > Advanced Settings > Behavior > External Application, you can configure the browser app, and the URL as argument, for example:

Hi Ernesto,

Thank you for the informations.

I have two more questions:

1- %CallerNumber% is a parameter filled by 3CX. I think that for our scenario could be enough but I was wondering if there is a list of available parameters.

2- The configuration you have given as an example I think in our case is not ideal as it would open a browser window for each call. it is possible to configure th "Windows client" to launch another kind of program? Like a software written by us (it could be a commad line program or something else) that receive as parameter %CallerNumber%.

Best regards

There are only 2 variables:
  • %CallerNumber%
  • %CallerDisplayName%

Yes, you can select the program to execute, and it will receive the parameters you specify.
