3CX v20u6 Ent, 128sc, On Prem, Linux

We just updated to 3CX v20 update 6. Found an issue when trying to delete a snom IP phone from a user. When I select the IP Phone to delete from a user, and then confirm to delete, I get this error message:

I'm wondering if this is new in update 6 because this user has a few dozen phones assigned. Used to work fine under v20u4.

Anybody know the cause for sure?

Thanks,

Are there any special characters in any of the phones in the system, either of this user or generally?

Any other phone actions add/remove for this user or others show this problem? Or just this one phone?

Hi, no special characters anywhere. I think the issue is one of the updates (5 or 6) now limits the number of Phones a single user can have assigned to 16. Why would this have changed?

As a test, I created a new user and then tried to assign 17 snom D735 phones to it. The first 16 phones were successfully assigned, but when I tried to add the 17th phone, at the "Configure your Phone" screen, I clicked the Add Phone button and nothing happens. No error but phone isn't added - the "Configure your Phone" remains displayed,

Time to open a bug report...

Thanks,

Hi, as an interim solution, can someone please help us do something ASAP to remove the 55 phones we have assigned to one user? We need to be able to reassign some of the phones to other users.

In case anyone is wondering why we have so many phones assigned to one user: Our practice (which I inherited) is when an employee leaves our organization, we delete their 3CX user and assign their phone to a specific user named "Unassigned User." The purpose is to not leave a phone displaying an employee's info that's no longer with us and also lets us secure the phone. When we have a new employee, we create a new 3CX user for them and then take the appropriate phone from the "Unassigned User" and reassign to the new user. As a result of the issue introduced in either v20 Update 5 or Update 6, we can't delete any of the phones from the "Unassigned User." We're not able to reassign phones to new users!

You can delete this "Unassigned User" since it's not a real user anyway. And for now spilt him into several "Unassigned" users which adhere to the max phone limit.
