Exceptions rules Help

We have client that has forwarding set to go to VM/Email on certain extensions.
They want it this way.
They would also like to be able to call the internal extension and have it ring.
Tried Exceptions rules but it does not allow to ring own extension number.
Can get it to work for external number, Skype, another extension, so on and so forth but cannot get it to ring itself.

Is there a way to do this?

So...the problem is that the same extension, can't call it's own number, and have it ring? i.e. ... ext 101 is dialling 101, and they want it to ring rather than go to VM?

It may have something to do with the option(s) on that extension. To begin with, it must be set to allow more than one call at a time, or the same extension number doing the calling will be viewed as all sets with the same number being busy. There may be other forwarding options involved as well depending on how you have it set up.
