I have 'dummy extensions' in our system which act as an A/B 'fork in the road' for the call flow. Sometimes they're an extension which I just manually change status of, sometimes they're based on a schedule.
(So, DID has two routes on it - night goes to a night mode IVR, day goes to 'Are We Training?' extension (305). '305 has forward rules of DND goes to a Queue, Available goes to a customer IVR for our Friday training ("We're in a meeting, leave a message."). I have the option 'Set to Available During Office Hours' set on extension 305, and I use custom hours (Friday 1130 to 1300).
The system does not consistently change the status of extension 305 every Friday. Sometimes I'll see calls still flowing through to the queue at 1145, and I'll go into the system only to see the extension status is still on DND - I change it manually and all is well. It will typically even then switch the status back to DND at 1300...
1. Is there a better way to achieve this? I really wish there were 'schedules' in the system which could be manual or automatic, and there would be a 'call route decision' extension of some sort which just said 'what schedule, and where do you want to to go on day and night).
2. Any thoughts on why extension 305's status isn't switched consistently? This has been happening since we upgraded to v15 I believe. It has happened on both windows 7 and 10 (recently updated the underlying OS and re-installed the entire PBX/restored from backup).
