Solved Fanvil PA3 -Waiting on STUN timeout

Hello,

Have a cloud hosted 3cx v18 newest version server on Debian and a Fanvil PA3 with no SBC. PA system was working fine for days and now its doing this weird thing where it'll simply not register with the PBX. If I reboot the Sophos XG firewall, it'll register and work for 2min, then goes offline until we reboot the firewall again. We've got firewall rules and exceptions in place everywhere. All the other Fanvil x6u phones work just fine.

We can access the webui of the pa3 just fine. All the settings appear to be fine. The message the PA3 has in the webui is that it's waiting on the stun server, then eventually it times out.

In the PBX we have all the SIP ports and RTP ports all different from each extension.

Any idea what could be causing this? Bad firmware?

Clearly something about the Sophos and the PA3. But if that customer can afford a Sophos, they can afford a Pi to use as a SBC and that will solve all your problems

Hi,

While the PA3 is not a currently supported device and there may be other variables at play, I think STUN is probably the bigger issue in your case.

Even though you may have done your due diligence regarding port forwards, firewalls may still have a "few tricks up their sleeve" as it were, and they may still end up messing with the traffic.

I think what @cobaltit said makes sense - and if you consider it somewhat, your precious time is probably worth more than the price of a Pi for an SBC. So far this method has proved the most reliable for remote phones, is it possible to consider it for this customer?

It ended up being a bad port on the switch which powers it as well -_-

Ah that would make the device unstable I would imagine. Did you get it working normally in the end?
