Hi,

We are looking to move from on prem to hosted and are currently trialing the hosted solution.

We have a Fanvil V64 to test

I can not find any in depth documentation but are we able to configure this phone without a separate SBC (Router phone is talked about)

Kind Regards

Thanks ConceptsWeb tried this previously and it didnt work :/ Am i right in assuming the phone will act a SBC so no need for a seperate device?

Kind Regards

Make sure you have the latest firmware on it. See the Router Phone section of the link.

Yep i upgraded the firmware before setting up on 3cx hosted

How does the phone know where the 3cx instance is located?

It uses RPS. Have you configured the phone via the Webclient as indicated in the guide?

I followed this:

Configuring your Fanvil V series as a Router Phone

  1. Select "Router Phone".
  2. Choose your Fanvil V62, V64 or V65 model from the drop-down menu.
  3. Enter the phone’s MAC address without dashes or colons, and click “Add phone”.
  4. A pop-up with the extension number and the one-time code will appear. The PIN is valid for 14 days during which period you have to connect the phone to the network. If it is already connected, restart it.
  5. As soon as the phone boots up it will request:
    Your extension number
    The special 8-digit one-time PIN.

Hosted instance gave me the pin etc but theres no info on configuring the fanvil phone as a router phone?.....

Once you have the 8-digits PIN, reboot the phone and wait a bit. It should ask for credentials. Use the extension number as username and PIN as password.

So no configuration in the phone web client required?

Kind Regards

Much appreciated - how does a new phone out the box on a remote site know where the 3cx instance is?

It knows where the RPS server is, which 3CX talks to and send its FQDN with the phone MAC address, so that it can check it. It's the Remote Provisioning Service.

Thanks again, i've factory reset the phone, deleted and re-added on 3cx hosted instance and shall wait to see if anything happens :)

Thanks again :)

I can see this is the 3cx logs (i did see this over the weekend when testing) however the phone isn't doing anything other than sitting on its default dial peer screen

RPS request for Fanvil V64 (MAC:0CXXXXXXX) IP Phone of Nick (1000) delivered successfully
3CX Phone System Management Console ID: 10018 09/01/2023 11:22:33

Can you confirm that the firmware version is 2.12.15.6 ?

Model:V64
Hardware:V1.0
Software:2.12.15.6

Just to confirm also:
• Was this phone previously provisioned to another PBX system and also used any RPS?
• Are you accessing the 3CX Web Client of the extension that has been set as System Owner and followed the guideline?
• Have you tried to reboot the phone manually?

It was new out of the box

I have the mac app installed and it connects fine to the 3cx hosted instance
• Have you tried to reboot the phone manually?
yes

Can you please access the Web Client and make another attempt?
