I have had our 3CX phone system running for years now (on premise Windows Server 2016) without any issues with provisioning. I would unbox a phone (or factory reset an existing phone) and normally, I would get the phone listed as configured in the management console. It has been a while since I've added or changed a phone, however, so when we had a staff member to replace, I followed my normal procedure of deleting the extension from 3CX, factory resetting the phone, creating the new extension and, by the time I did that, the phone would show up in the console where I could do a quick extension assignment and we are done.

When I did this the other day, the phone won't show back up in the console. I tried several resets and also the 3CX procedure for manually connecting the phone. Even when I follow the manual procedure, the phone does not show up on in the management console. I know the X5S is considered EOL/legacy, but I would assume it would still work for auto provisioning.

I am wondering if I am missing something or the process has changed?

Thank you!

Hi Scot,

The X5S is not EOL.

Firstly ensure that the phone has the latest firmware we support:
https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/

Then check to see if the phone was blacklisted - it won't show up as "New" if it was.

Factory resetting makes the phone transmit a PnP message so that 3CX can see it. This is delivered via multicast on your local network. Regardless of whether or not things worked before, you should make sure multicast is not being blocked on your network. As an alternative, you can paste the provisioning link in the phone manually.

Sorry for the long delay in confirmation, but the phone was indeed blacklisted for some reason. I have encountered this before, but checking for blacklisted IP did not occur to me this time. Thank you!
